where do i start? i haven't updated in a few weeks, so i suppose there is a lot to catch up on!
i had the best thanksgiving of my life. i'm not going to lie, it was incredibly hard for me the day of because i knew my family was together. i really wanted to be at home. my team cooked an amazing meal. we were all responsible for one dish a piece. so we had a lot of really great thanksgiving food. we went to chris and christina's house & spent time playing games and talking and eating that night. the next day however, we had ALOT of food left over. so christina put it all in aluminum cooking dishes and a few of us took them to people in the community that we spend time with on a regular basis. it was really cool to get to bless families with food. that day it rained... alot. most of the town was flooded, so the people in the homes and shacks weren't able to go anywhere. one house, jaymee and i pulled our pants up and we trudged through waste deep water. it was just really cool to get to bring god into their homes & tell them about thanksgiving. a lot of times people sit around on thanksgiving and say how thankful they are for what they have because there are starving kids in the world... well i spend time with kids those kids that are hungry on a daily basis. those kids that are hungry are the ones that have my heart here in africa. it just makes me so much more grateful.
i took surfing lessons. and i actually got up on the board quite a few times. don't worry, im a professional. not really.
we went to a lion/tiger park. i finally saw lions, tigers, zebras, and giraffes! we've been here for three months and FINALLY we got to see animals!
the christmas tree is up in the house! dont get too excited, its really bare and little. its nothing like home, but its better then nothing. we put lights up and decorations too.
the children are of course the highlight ofย everything im doing right now. ithemba is great. i have beenย teaching a first through third grade class. they are such a joy to be around. i absolutly adore them.
the next two weeks we have a leadership/discipleship conference every morning. the kenya and swaziland AIM teams are here in j bay. it's been great to spend time with them and catch up!
i leave africa two weeks from saturday to head back to the states! i cant wait to see everyone and catch up. take care & god bless.
